Our Web Design Process Secrets Exposed

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Here are the Juicy Details of Our Web Design Process

As Social Influence, we know how overwhelming it can be to run a business. We understand you have a myriad of things to do and only a limited amount of time. Especially when it comes to websites, technicalities can be a pain. Your time is valuable, and we don’t want you to spend more time on website building than you should. We are an agency that prides itself on our organized, fast and efficient processes. Thus we tailored our web design process to offer you a smooth experience.

Even though every client’s goals and requirements will differ on a case-by-case basis, the web design process is the same for all clients. And just as our clients expect us to deliver good service, we expect them to respect and adhere to our processes.

Our web design process includes eight phases:

Discovery Call, Website Brief, Custom Cost Proposal, Visual Elements, Content Delivery, Development, Testing, and Offboarding.

1- Discovery Call

We love discovery calls! We use this opportunity to get to know our clients and determine if we are a good fit. During our call, we talk through the pain points and priorities of the prospective client. We tell them what our process is like and how we can help.

Typically, the calls take no more than 30 minutes since we aim to be efficient at all times.

2- Website Strategy Questionnaire (Brief)

This stage of our web design process involves answering detailed questions about your future website’s objectives and scope. It is a form that we need you to fill out fully and honestly, as it will serve as a brief for our project. You will need to answer questions like the below:

  • What are your business name and contact details?
  • What kind of pages do you need?
  • Do you have a visual identity (logo, colours, typography etc.)
  • What are some websites you like?
  • How many products/services do you have?
  • Do you need SEO, copywriting and other digital marketing services?

and the list goes on.

3- Custom Cost Proposal

Some prospective clients are prone to skip the first and second stages. They want to learn immediately about the prices, however, each website is different. So if a web designer is putting a price on a website without clearly defining its scope, that would be a red flag.

As you can see on our custom websites page, we can give you a range of prices to let you know what to expect. But we need to work on an official cost proposal.

Our official cost proposal includes costs, add-ons (if any), how we work, and terms and conditions. Once you have agreed on the price and terms, we will email you the contract and invoice for the deposit payment. Then we can begin working on your project.

4- Visual Elements

Upon receiving your payment and signing the contract, we will begin working on the visual elements of your website. You may already have your logo, colour scheme, and typography on hand that we can use on your website. At this point, you will be providing these to us.

In the event you need a visual identity design, we will ask you to send us a detailed brief, and we will begin working on your visual identity. Through this brief form, we will guide you through defining your brand.

5- Site Map & Content Delivery

While we are working on your visual identity, we will be creating a site map and link structure for your website. We will ask you to provide us with the content (copy and images if there are any).

When you work with a copywriter, we expect you to send us your web copy before we start designing your web pages because copy and design should go hand in hand.

6- Website Development

After receiving your approval of the visual elements, the information architecture, and the content, we will begin bringing designs to life. During this stage, we will build your pages on WordPress.

7- Testing

The mobile responsiveness of your website has a direct impact on your search engine rankings. As part of this stage, we test your website on mobile devices so that it offers your visitors a seamless experience.

In addition, we test to ensure that your forms and plugins are functioning properly.

8- Delivery & Offboarding

Once your website has been developed, tested, and additional security measures have been taken, it is ready for delivery!

At this final stage, we will provide you with an offboarding document. Our offboarding document includes information about your website, login details, tips for maintenance, and more. We will also share links with you to give us feedback on your experience.

Finally, we will discuss how we will let the world know about your new website. Afterwards, it’s time to toast our accomplishment with bubbly!

Final Words

It seems like a long journey, doesn’t it? Actually, it isn’t. The web design process isn’t always as linear as it appears. Stages can overlap each other and the process might go back and forth. But having a path to follow can make the process go more smoothly.
